McRent Ireland โ€” Motorhome Hire

๐Ÿ“… Updated May 2026 โฑ 7 min read ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡ช Dublin + Limerick

European motorhome rental network with Irish depots โ€” German-built Dethleffs and Sunlight fleet, unlimited mileage on every rental.

McRent is the European motorhome rental network you may have noticed at airports across the continent โ€” and they operate an Irish depot at Collinstown Business Park in Cloghran (6 km from Dublin Airport), plus a secondary location near Limerick. We added them to campers.ie in May 2026 after WebSearch verification.

About McRent Ireland

McRent operates a pan-European motorhome rental network spanning Germany, Austria, the UK, Ireland, Scandinavia and beyond. Their Irish operation is run under the mcrent.ie brand and is the local face of that international fleet. The advantage of a European network: standardised vehicles, standardised handover procedures, and the rare option of a one-way rental across borders (Ireland to UK, etc.) when their inventory aligns.

The vehicles are German-built โ€” Dethleffs and Sunlight are two of the most respected motorhome manufacturers in Europe. If you have ever rented a motorhome in Germany or Austria, you have almost certainly driven one of these brands. The build quality is consistently high, and Irish-renter feedback is generally positive on vehicle condition.

Best for

Renters who value standardised European fleet quality, families wanting full-size motorhomes, and anyone with a multi-country itinerary

Fleet overview

McRent Ireland offers a range of campervans and motorhomes from compact 2-berths up to family 6-berths. Vehicles ship from the factory with bicycle racks, awnings, fly screens โ€” the European-standard touring kit. Compared to Irish-only operators whose fleet may include older vehicles refurbished locally, the McRent fleet is rotated more aggressively because it sits inside a pan-European inventory pool.

  • Compact campervans (2-berth): Modern Fiat Ducato or Ford Transit conversions, kitchen and double bed.
  • Family motorhomes (4-berth): Coachbuilt motorhomes with permanent double + dinette conversion or drop-down bed.
  • Large motorhomes (6-berth): Full-size family vehicles with separate bedroom, full bathroom, dinette and over-cab bed.

Depots and pickup

Dublin depot: Collinstown Business Park, Cloghran โ€” approximately 6 km from Dublin Airport. Office hours Monday to Saturday 9am to 5pm; closed Sundays. Phone +353 696 6480 (verify direct before relying on this). The Cloughran location is the same airport-adjacent industrial-estate cluster used by Bunk Campers, so the handover logistics from Dublin Airport are well-trodden.

Limerick area: McRent operates a secondary Irish depot near Limerick, useful for renters arriving via Shannon Airport or starting a Wild Atlantic Way south-to-north itinerary without doubling back through Dublin.

Pricing (2026 โ€” indicative)

McRent Ireland publishes seasonal rate cards through their booking system. As with every operator listed here, the ranges below are indicative โ€” always pull a live quote from mcrent.ie before committing.

Vehicle typeLow season (approx.)Peak season (approx.)
Compact campervan (2-berth)From ~โ‚ฌ90/dayFrom ~โ‚ฌ150/day

Price note

Peak season in Ireland runs roughly June to August. McRent's European pool means peak-season inventory in Ireland is often constrained by demand pulling vehicles from continental depots โ€” book early.

Booking and affiliate

McRent has a global partner / affiliate programme through which booking sites earn commission on confirmed rentals. Campers.ie may participate in this โ€” disclosed per booking link. As always, the price you pay is not affected by our commission.

Our verdict

Who McRent is best for

The European-fleet pick. If you want a German-built Dethleffs or Sunlight motorhome on Irish roads โ€” and the depot logistics of a pan-European operator โ€” McRent is the natural choice. Two Irish depots (Dublin + Limerick) is more coverage than most Irish-only operators offer.

Downsides to know: Less personal feel than family-run operators like Wild Way or West Coast Campervans. The phone support routes through a European call centre rather than the local depot during some hours. Unlimited mileage is great but the per-day rate is mid-to-premium, not budget.
