Yescapa is the largest peer-to-peer campervan marketplace operating in Ireland โ Irish owners listing their personal campervans and motorhomes for rental, with platform-bundled insurance and 2-installment payments. We added it to campers.ie in May 2026 after WebSearch verification of active Irish inventory.
About Yescapa Ireland
Yescapa is a European peer-to-peer campervan and motorhome rental marketplace โ effectively the Airbnb of campervans. Private owners list their vehicles on the platform; renters book directly through Yescapa with bundled insurance and platform-mediated payment. Yescapa runs a dedicated Irish portal at yescapa.ie and inventory is concentrated around Dublin but extends across the island.
Unlike a commercial operator (Bunk, Indie, McRent) where you collect from a depot from staff, with Yescapa you collect from the actual owner โ usually at their home or a nearby agreed location. The vehicles are personal campervans, which means the fit-out and condition vary enormously between listings. That variability is the trade-off of P2P pricing.
Peer-to-peer marketplace โ private owners list, renters book through platform
2-berth campervans through 6-berth motorhomes; ~50-150 active Irish listings at peak
From ~โฌ40/day for compact mid-week off-season; typically โฌ80-โฌ150/day standard
Renters comfortable with variability in exchange for better pricing; supporting private Irish owners directly; quirky/character vans not available at commercial operators
How it works
- Browse + filter: Search by location, dates, group size. Each listing shows owner profile, vehicle photos, included extras, and past renter reviews.
- Booking request: Send a request to the owner. They typically respond within 24 hours.
- Pay through platform: Yescapa offers 2-installment payments with no fees. Payment is released to the owner after pickup.
- Pickup: Meet the owner at their home or agreed location. They walk you through the vehicle's quirks.
- Return: Same location, agreed time. Owner inspects, you confirm condition, deposit released.
Pricing (2026)
Peer-to-peer pricing means the headline rates are lower than commercial operators but the spread is wider. A budget mid-week 2-berth off-season can be as low as โฌ40-โฌ50/day; a peak-season 6-berth premium motorhome can exceed โฌ200/day. The midpoint for a standard family campervan in shoulder season is around โฌ90-โฌ120/day โ meaningfully cheaper than commercial equivalents.
Yescapa takes a commission from owners; renters do not pay a separate platform fee. Insurance is bundled into the price.
Trust and insurance
This is the genuine concern with any P2P rental. Yescapa addresses it through:
- Verified profiles โ owners must verify ID; renters typically need a driving licence verification.
- Comprehensive insurance bundled โ third-party + collision + breakdown, included in the booking price.
- Review system โ visible owner and renter ratings drive accountability in both directions.
- Dispute resolution โ Yescapa mediates if pickup/return goes wrong. Hold on payment until satisfactory pickup.
Despite all of this, P2P is materially more variable than booking with a commercial operator. Read recent reviews on every listing before booking; if a listing has fewer than 5 reviews, treat it as you would any new Airbnb โ possibly fine, slightly more risk.
Our verdict
The value pick with character. If you want a non-cookie-cutter vehicle, fancy supporting private Irish owners directly, and you are comfortable with the variability of a P2P marketplace, Yescapa is the best-value option in the Irish market. Compact 2-berths off-season can be 30-50% cheaper than commercial equivalents.
Downsides to know: Vehicle condition varies. Pickup logistics are less polished than a commercial depot. Cancellation policies differ per listing. Less insurance breadth than some commercial operators (e.g. Indie Campers' unlimited km is rare on P2P listings). First-time campervan renters may find a commercial operator a gentler introduction.
